Memorial Day Wachusett Reservoir Fishing

Woke up at 4 am to go fishing. Went to B and A Tackle in W.Boylston to get some shiners.Hit the water at gate 26 and as soon as we got there we were seeing ripples and jumps.Tied on a rooster tail 10 minutes in I hooked a dink 7 inch LM Bass.Ten minutes later I move down the shoreline and send a shiner out. I put the rod on the ground with the bail open. All of a sudden I see the line go out. I picked up the rod and set the hook into something big. I knew it was a fish but it was staying in the same spot like a log.3 minutes the fight took and I saw that it was my first Smallmouth Bass. It was a nice one about 16 inches, and it felt like it was a lot bigger.

  • Pound for pound, most smallies I've caught fight much harder than largemouths - congrats. I got a smallie there last year, also on a live shiner.
