The Ponkapoag Predicament

Me and my dad took the crawdad out to Ponkapoag this morning. The morning started off pretty well, with lots of bites, although no fish landed. We also saw an absolutely HUGE snapping turtle that came so close to the boat we nearly ran him over! Eventually, my dad hooked on to a pretty nice larry and we managed to land him. It was maybe 2 and a half pounds. We were getting ready for a pic, and my dad turned around yelling that his rod fell in the water. Sure enough, his rod had fallen in after he had unhooked the fish. We looked around for a good half hour but could not find it. We didn't have a fishfinder and we were drifting all over the place, so it was impossible to figure out exactly where it was. So the lesson of the day: make sure your rod's secure before you make sure that the fish is. We never found the rod and reel. I didn't feel like fishing any more, as my dad losing his only freshwater rod wasn't exactly an "uplifting" experience, and we decided to run ashore and leave. So if anyone happens to hook an Ugly Stik Elite with a Pfleuger President Series spinning rod on it, you know who to call.
