Weekend At The Lake

Spent the weekend at Newfound Lake in NH. I always have trouble here because I don't bring my boat and for the most part, the fish stay deep. But, when the sun gets really low, the fish start cruising the shore. I spent all day catching nothing and then around dusk I landed two smallies and a horn pout. One of the smallies was my first ever catch on a crankbait, so that was fun.

  • first time I've been to newfound i went up fathers day weekend....i caught a nice 2lbs smallie right on the beach..cruising the shallows..then caught a small pickerel in the weedy cove on the other side of the lake...then caught 2 more on the coves to the left of the boat ramp...another 2lbser and a 1lbser...all smallies were caught on tube baits....then on fathers day we went back to the state beach ..and caught another small under the dock at the boat ramp
I'm going back this weekend..hopefuly ill catch more smallies..the fish will be deeper

  • I always mean to fish early morning but it's so damn quiet up there i can't help but to sleep in

  • If can get some live crawdads you will crush them early in the morning.

  • If you get access to a boat try around mayhew island. Loads of nice smallies. I have a lot of luck bouncing anything crayfish like or a mepps hook with a little spinner and nightcrawler off of the bottom. I spend the last 2 weeks of july up there...>CANT WAIT
